Photos have a huge impact on the selection of your work. We invite you to read the tips below to take perfect photos to accompany your virtual exhibition.

Use daylight

Daylight helps bring out all the details of your object. Artificial lighting changes the colors. Using flash can create (unattractive) shadows and flattens your object.

Stabilize your device

Avoid camera shake by stabilizing your device, using a tripod or resting your device on a stable surface, when taking your photos.

Avoid photographing other objects

The presence of objects other than your lot in the photos is very distracting, or can lead to confusion.

Use a plain background

A plain, neutral background highlights your object. For example, you can use a sheet or plain paper/cardboard to create a neat background.

Shoot all angles

Buyers are fond of photos and appreciate being able to see all the details of the object. So also photograph the object from above and below and from the sides. For canvases: Place a photo of your canvas without the frame as the main photo!

Present clean and neat items

Clean your object before taking a picture of it. Then make sure you have a neat presentation.

Use neutral landmarks

For any small or unusual object, you can highlight them by placing them next to a tape measure. Be sure to pick a landmark that doesn’t draw all the attention.

Represent the qualitative state in which your lot is located

Traces of wear and any other defect (even minor) must be clearly indicated in your description, as well as in the photos.

Choose your camera wisely

For your close-ups (macros), use a digital camera. Phones don’t always work well.

Place your best photo as the main photo

The first photo in your series is used as the main photo and is visible on the artwork page listing all lots. Then choose the most representative photo in order to attract as much interest as possible.
